Make Your Own Halloween Crayons - Easy DIY

If you’ve been following us on TikTok, Instagram, or Pinterest you already know that I love the holidays! Halloween is definately one of my favorites. Every year I share tons of fun holiday recipes, DIY’s, + more! One of my favorites are these DIY chunky crayons. They are a fun way to celebrate spooky season and would be great Halloween party favors, classroom gifts, or even something to hand out to trick-or-treaters on Halloween night. The best part is they are easy to make + there’s a good chance you already have all the everything you need!

Supplies:

  • Silicone Baking Mold

  • Lots of old crayons!

  • Large Bowl

Getting Started: Pick out the crayon colors you’d like to use. For this project I went with colors I felt represented Halloween. I chose orange, black, white, purple, and green. Fill a large bowl with warm water and place all of your crayons in it. Let them soak for about 20 minutes. This is a good time to preheat your oven to 450 degrees.

Now when you go to remove the wrappers they will easily slide off your crayons. Once all are removed, make sure to pat dry to remove extra water. Break the crayons into smaller pieces so they will easily fit within your mold. Now have choosing which colors go into the different shapes. No matter what you pick, it’s fund to see how the colors meld together as they melt down. Once molds are filled, place them onto a foil lined baking try. Insert them into your preheated oven for about 10 minutes until they have completed melted down into liquid form.

Ovens will vary so keep a close eye on these as they bake. The crayons pictured above aren’t quite yet ready to be removed.

Now let them cool completely before popping them out. If you have space in your fridge, you can place them there to speed up the cooling process.

The image above shows crayons that have completely cooled and hardened. Now they are ready to pop out and enjoy! Have fun coloring with your new DIY Halloween crayons!
