DIY Ghost Treat Bags: An Easy Halloween Party Favor Idea

Looking for an easy Halloween treat bag idea that’s cute, inexpensive and simple enough to make a bunch at once? These DIY ghost treat bags are such a fun option!

With just a few basic supplies, plain white paper bags turn into adorable little ghosts that you can fill with candy, small toys or other Halloween goodies.

They’re perfect for Halloween parties, classroom treats, Boo baskets, trick-or-treating or a spooky movie night — and I love that you can make each ghost a little different.

I linked everything I used to make these ghost treat bags on my LTK so you can easily recreate them!

Easy DIY Halloween Treat Bags

Halloween DIYs don’t have to be complicated to be cute!

For these ghost bags, I started with small white paper gift bags. The handles make them especially easy to use as party favors because you can fill them ahead of time and have them ready for everyone to grab.

The rounded top gives each bag that simple ghost shape, while the black faces make every ghost come to life.

And my favorite part? You can give some of the ghosts little eyelashes, rosy pink cheeks and ribbon bows for an extra cute variation.

Make them all match or give every ghost its own personality!

How to Make Ghost Treat Bags for Halloween

Start with a small white paper bag and round the top corners to create a ghost-like shape.

Next, cut simple oval shapes from black felt to create the ghost’s eyes and mouth. They definitely don’t need to be perfect — slightly different shapes give each ghost its own expression.

Attach the felt pieces to the front of the bag. Stick on felt makes it super easy!

For an extra-cute version, add eyelashes above the eyes and small pink circles for rosy cheeks. Finish those ghosts with a little ribbon bow tied around one of the handles.

Once your ghost bags are finished, fill them with your favorite Halloween treats!

That’s it. Such an easy Halloween DIY, but they look adorable lined up together for a party.

What Can You Put Inside Halloween Ghost Treat Bags?

There are so many ways to fill these depending on where you’re using them.

For a Halloween party favor, fill them with individually wrapped candy, Halloween stickers, temporary tattoos, glow sticks or little toys.

For classroom Halloween treats, you can skip the candy completely and use pencils, erasers, stickers, mini fidget toys or other small non-candy treats.

They would also be adorable added to a Boo basket or handed out on Halloween night.

Cute Halloween Party Favor Idea

One of my favorite things about theseDIY ghost favor bags is how cute they look displayed together.

Make several different ghost faces, add bows to a few and group them together on your Halloween treat table. They become part of the party decor before anyone even opens them!

You could also use them for:

  • Kids’ Halloween parties

  • School Halloween celebrations

  • Halloween birthday parties

  • Trick-or-treat favors

  • Boo baskets

  • Neighborhood Halloween parties

  • Halloween movie nights

They’re an especially good option when you need to make multiple Halloween favors without a complicated craft.
